Searching for a place through Clearing? London College of Creative Arts (LCCA) offers a range of undergraduate programmes in fashion, design, and business management.

The Clearing process opened on 6 July and runs through to mid-September. Through the UCAS site, you can browse Clearing vacancies and apply for them. After the results come out on 13 August, if you haven’t been accepted onto any of the courses you applied for, and you’re wanting to start a course in October but haven’t quite got the grades you were hoping for, LCCA can help.

The Clearing process is available to you if you’ve submitted an application to any university through the UCAS undergraduate pathway but haven’t received any acceptance offers. Other eligibility criteria includes:

  • Your application reached UCAS after 30 June and before 21 September
  • You haven’t received the exam results for your first choice (firm) and second choice (insurance) courses
  • You don’t have a confirmed place at your selected university after the exam results are published on 13 August
  • You have an acceptance letter in hand but want to rethink your course/university

Here are some tips on securing the perfect course

Results day can be stressful so being prepared is key. Research which courses are available and make sure that they are tailored to what you want to study. There’s nothing worse than securing a place and realising later on that you’re really not interested in the subject.

There’s still time to find suitable courses! Currently, these are the Clearing courses in 2020 available at LCCA:

  • BA (Hons) Business Management
  • BA (Hons) Fashion
  • BA (Hons) Fashion Media and Promotion
  • BA (Hons) Fashion Business Management
  • BA (Hons) Graphic Design

The UCAS website usually has live updates of the available courses throughout results day. Since a lot of students will be calling different university Clearing numbers, you might have to wait in a queue to speak to a Clearing advisor from your selected university. Use this time to get all your documents and information ready. You should also note down any questions you might want to ask.

When the results are released on 13 August, you’ll probably need to call the universities you’re interested in. You should also have all the necessary details ready before you start calling. This includes your ten-digit UCAS number, the courses you’re interested in as well as the grades you’ve achieved. At LCCA we have a dedicated clearing hotline which you can call on 020 3750 3832 or email us at clearing@lcca.org.uk. Our dedicated advisors will be able to tell you about the places we still have available and help you enrol.

Whilst calling, please remember that lots of other students will be trying to get through too. Be patient, someone will be available to speak to you.

You should also treat the phone call as a college interview and be prepared for all sorts of questions. You can ace your preparation by writing down the key points in advance to questions you think might be asked of you. If your answers and demeanour create a positive impression, it improves your chances of securing a place on a course.

LCCA offers a range of creative courses that are industry focused. These are ideal if you’re thinking about a career in fashion, business or design. Want to learn more about how LCCA can help you with Clearing? Click here.
