COURSE OVERVIEW


This course provides insights into the main areas of fashion business exploring subjects such as the fashion business environment, fashion marketing, fashion advertising and public relations and events, fashion retail, finance for fashion, branding, luxury fashion brands, entrepreneurship, sustainability, visual merchandising, digital marketing, business law and human resources. You will gain a thorough understanding of the fashion system and the business principles applicable to the fashion industry. You will study how fashion brands work, from fast-fashion cases to premium and luxury fashion. The course also looks at contemporary issues such as corporate social responsibility, globalisation and the impact of digital on the fashion business.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE

You will have an overview of all the different areas of the fashion business, looking at the theory and how these are applied in practice by exploring cases from high street to luxury fashion brands. You will be taught by a teach of academics and industry practitioners. You will be able to work on a business plan for a fashion company of your choice or your own business idea within fashion. By choosing to study this short course at LCCA you will be able: To critically analyse the fashion business environment. To explore the fashion retailing strategy from high street to luxury brands. To explore the management implications of the fashion business. To demonstrate critical appreciation of fashion marketing strategies applied to industry cases. To critically evaluate the key success factors and potential pitfalls of fashion marketing communications.

HOW IS THE COURSE TAUGHT

Lectures, seminars, field trips (museums and conferences), workshops, case-studies, roundtables, project based-assessment and student-led presentations.

ASSESSMENT

As a group, students will be required to work on a fashion business plan (7000 words) of one year and pitch (15 minutes) their idea to an audience of investors. Students can work on a growth strategy for an existing brand or launch a new fashion business venture.
