We are now officially left with one month of summer, and if you haven’t managed to keep up with the SS17 trends, this post will provide a recap for you to give your wardrobe a new lease of life.

We’ll also show you how some of these trends have featured on the catwalk.

Shoulder pads

Shoulder pads are back! Love them or loathe them, you can’t ignore them! This classic look is designed to give you a heightened and svelte appearance.

Shoulder pads were first introduced to the fashion scene in the 1930’s; this was due to women’s clothing at the time becoming more militarised.

Stripes

Jean Paul Gaultier created the much-loved, nautical inspired blue and white striped top. Stripes were also a big hit with Coco Chanel. Stripes are a classic, effortless and unisex look – an easy way of managing to stay on trend this summer.

Bralettes

The perfect wear for summer weather, bralettes have made a comeback! They are perfect for those who like to live in their underwear. Underwear has now become outerwear.

Bralettes can be worn as an over-layer or underneath. They are usually featured in the catwalk shows of Prada, Balmain and in SS 2017 they were popular with Victoria Beckham and Miu Miu. Bralettes are usually made of silk and lace.

Kitten heels

The more cautious heel wearer will be thrilled to know that kitten heels are right on trend! The heel was popular with classic stars such as Audrey Hepburn due to its elegant look and comfort, as well as Princess Diana and queen of fashion Anna Wintour.
